Peasant, Pee-sant, Pheasant

Playing dress-up, Jaela asked me:

J: Mom, don't I look just like a princess?

(She's wearing two dresses, three layers of shawls, and a scarf tied over her straw hat...)

Me: Actually, you look more like a peasant girl.

J: Really?!? (runs back upstairs to tell her sisters...)

Later:

J: Mom, did I really look like a pee-sant?

Me: No, you looked like a peh-sant.

Macey, a few minutes later:

M: Mom, wasn't that funny when Jaela asked if she looked like a pheasant?

Me: No funnier than when you called her a pheasant instead of a peasant!

(Sorry, that quote from The Princess Bride just "fit so nice, he said I could keep it." Acckk! Why is that movie so doggone quotable?!? Again, sorry!)

Anyway, to "sum up" our lives since my last post:

Christmas came and went. It was fun. And then we recycled the tree.

January came and went too. It was kind of a crazy month and included a trip to Oregon and a rare six inches of snow in Tennessee. I plan to post some pictures from both of those events soon.

So far, February hasn't been too bad. I'll try to do better about keeping you posted. :)

His Name Shall Be Called...

This last week or so for our Bible readings, we've been covering the minor prophets, and I've been letting the girls read out of their Picture Bibles for a change, while Grandma was here.  We're now moving into Isaiah and Jeremiah, still reading from their Picture Bibles.  The Bible reading this morning was from Isaiah, including "His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God...The Prince of Peace."

After we had finished eating lunch, everyone was still sitting around the table, so I asked Jaela and Macey to tell me what they'd read in their Bibles this morning.  They couldn't remember the name Isaiah, but after I gave them the first few sounds, they figured it out.  I asked them to tell me about him.  After they'd told me all about Isaiah, I asked them what he had told the people.  They remembered the warnings he gave, but were a little slower on the part I was after, so I helped jog their memories.

Me: His name shall be called W...

Macey: Wonderful!

Me: Couns...

Jaela: Counsellor!

Me: Almighty...

Jaela: God!

Me: Prince of...

Jaela: Prince of Europe!

Misquotes
